Original U.S. Pennsylvania Long Rifle with Set Trigger and Tiger Maple Stock by T.C. Harris c. 1840

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This just came out of the attic after a hundred years of storage, together with a couple of hundred other guns. Here is an octagonal barreled Rifled "Kentucky" style rifle, which more correctly is known as a Pennsylvania Rifle. It was made by T.C. HARRIS, as marked on the top of the barrel. The Rifled .36 caliber octagonal barrel is 40" long and the rifle measures 56" in overall length.

The percussion lock looks to be a British "Trade" lock, but the maker marking is faded, with only the last three letters of the name ??HER visible in the scroll engraving. The stock is 1/2 stocked and the rifle is all brass mounted, except for the nose cap, which is zinc. The stock is made completely of lovely "Tiger Stripe" flamed maple, and is really great looking.

We feel this rifle started life as a Percussion weapon, and not a conversion from Flintlock. Interestingly the rifle has been, since new, fitted with a "set trigger" depressing the rear trigger first until it clicks and just touching the front trigger discharges the weapon, hopefully with great accuracy.

A most attractive attractive Pennsylvania Long Rifle, ready to display!
