Some are written on different variations of U.S.S. Arizona letterhead or U.S.S. Arizona themed stationary. The content varies, but most of the letters detail shipboard life, various ports of call around the world, and the expected typical non-military related content. Additional research could be conducted on Merrill and his military service if one desired.

Items associated with the U.S.S. Arizona are seldom found on the collector’s market today, especially those as early as this particular grouping. This is an outstanding piece of Arizona related history that is more than simply a material object, but offers primary source material that gives one a view into the daily shipboard life of a sailor in that time and place.

https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-u-s-navy-1920s-uss-arizona-sailor-s-flat-cap-with-tally-and-correspondence-archive-grouping
