American manufactured by the J. H. McKenney \u0026amp; Company military goods firm of New York City.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis post-war M1860 sword specimen is an edged weapon that was designed mostly for ceremonial use. The straight, double-edged steel blade measures 31” long and features a diamond-shaped cross section. Blade is embellished on both sides with etched foliate and a military panoply of arms. On the ricasso shows the maker \u003cstrong\u003eJ. H. \/ Mc \/ KENNEY \/ \u0026amp; Co. \/ N. Y.\u003c\/strong\u003e. Blade is semi-bright with scattered age discoloration spots.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFloral engraved motifs are present on both sides of the blade. On the right side of the blade is an etched name \u003cstrong\u003eW. E. Hyde\u003c\/strong\u003e and on the left is \u003cstrong\u003eCor Querri\u003c\/strong\u003e. We have not conducted any research on these names, but one could possibly find more on him if one wished to do so.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Sword hilt and handle is brass, with the handle having a separate brass wrap to mimic the wire used on the leather handled versions. Steel scabbard has a pleasing, dark gray\/brown patina and is adorned with two brass mounts and a brass drag; the brass throat is still present. Both mounts exhibit a floral display. The top mount sports two rings while the lower mount has only one. The brass drag features a bold star on one side and a set of draped flags on the other. Both sword mounts and the drag are tight.
