This is a scarce and desirable example of the Remington Model 1871 Rolling Block Army Pistol, a design renowned for its simplicity, strength, and exceptional reliability. Pistols of this type are very hard to find today—especially in full military configuration and retaining their original U.S. Army markings.

This example, serial number 3512, dates from the early 1870s production period and is martially marked with a clear U.S. Army inspection cartouche on the left side of the walnut grip. It still retains its standard 8-inch rifled barrel in .50 caliber centerfire, as many were later converted to longer sporting configurations.

The left side of the frame is crisply marked with the correct maker and patent information:
REMINGTON'S ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.
PAT. MAY 3D. The serial number 3512 is present on the upper tang and also stamped in the grip channel.

The pistol remains in very good condition, showing honest service wear and use. The frame retains much of its muted case-hardened coloration, with traces of the original blued finish visible on the barrel and other metal components. The grips show typical handling marks, minor dings, and small wear spots from use, but remain solid and complete with the visible cartouche on the left panel.

Mechanically, the action is crisp and functions smoothly. The ejector and firing pin are intact, and the pistol dry-fires correctly. The bore retains visible lands and grooves with areas of light oxidation consistent with age and service.

A very fine example of a U.S. military-marked Remington Rolling Block Army Pistol, ready to display in any advanced American military or antique firearm collection.

Specifications:
Years of Manufacture: circa 1871–1876
Caliber: .50 Centerfire
Action: Rolling Block, Single Shot
Barrel Length: 8 inches
Overall Length: 12 inches
Feed System: Single Shot

NOTE: International orders of antique firearms MUST be shipped using UPS WW Services (courier).
