This is a great genuine U.S. M1887 sling. Constructed as a two piece sling - not the stitched 2 piece type- with brass double claw hook on one end and a brass stud button on the other. There are two leather keeper loops. These were designed for the Springfield Trapdoor or Krag rifles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCondition of leather is fair and brown, has stiffened a bit over time, complete with heavy stitching, proper adjustment holes and correct pattern double brass hook. There is some heavy rubbing of the finish as shown. There is a very faint marking on one side, \u003cstrong\u003eROCK\u003c\/strong\u003e, which is clearly a partial marking for \u003cstrong\u003eROCK ISLAND ARSENAL\u003c\/strong\u003e, a great marking to find.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSome cracking is evident with heavy staining in spots but overall functional and serviceable.
