Straight out of an old attic, completely untouched for probably over a century! This is a lovely American Antique double barreled shotgun, typical of the style made during the U.S. Civil War era. It is fitted with plain side action locks, which are both marked A. BROWN, and the barrel strap is marked A. BROWN FREMONT N.H.. The stock is nicely checkered at the wrist and forestock, and this must have been a lovely gun in its prime.

The maker Andrew Brown (1838-1907) was the son of gunsmith John Brown (1806-1895). They worked together in Fremont, New Hampshire, until John's death, and then Andrew carried on the business until his own passing.

The mounts all appear to be made of iron or steel and this gun presents very nicely. It features 31 1/2" 10 bore barrels, and measures 47 1/2" in overall length. Comes complete with the original brass-tipped ramrod, which has a "worm" clearing device on the other end. Both locks function correctly, holding at half cock and firing at full.

The muzzles of the barrels due have some deformation, and overall the shotgun does look to have seen much use. The bores are clear, but do show oxidation. There appears to have been some type of felt padding on the butt plate, however it is now mostly missing, and the butt plate is a bit rusted.

In really nice display condition, perfect for hanging on the wall, ready to restore or display as is!

Specifications-

Year of Manufacture: circa 1860-70
Caliber: 20mm approx 10 gauge / bore
Cartridge Type: Lead Shot and Powder with Percussion Cap
Barrel Length: 31 1/2 Inches
Overall Length: 47 1/2 Inches
Action type: Side Action Locks
Feed System: Muzzle Loaded

NOTE: International orders of antique firearms MUST be shipped using UPS WW Services (courier).
