Only One Available. Here we have a great example of an early American Flintlock Pistol, fitted with a fantastic brass barrel and fully mounted with engraved and embossed brass fittings. The gun is clearly marked on the lock plate by known maker Halbach & Sons. This maker originated in Baltimore, MD around 1780, and would become famous for producing bronze cannon muzzle style barrels and bronze mountings. A Halbach and Sons pistol can also be identified by the brass butt cap that depicts an American spread eagle surrounded by 13 stars. It will also have a raised carving around the tang and a lock plate stamped “Halbach & Sons", exactly like this example.

The pistol is in fantastic condition, showing a lovely aged patina overall, but no major wear or signs of past restoration. The 7 1/2 inch long 0.50" caliber barrel smoothly transitions from round at the muzzle to octagonal at the nocks form, with some lovely accents along the facets, and the gun measures 13 1/4 inches in overall length. The lock is an early design without a frizzen support bridle, and is fully functional, holding at half cock and firing at full.

It features lovely brass fittings, including the trigger guard, ramrod pipe, and ramrod throat. The large brass side plate is typical of early American designs, often made much like German pistols of the same period. The stock also features lots of carved outlines around the fittings, and is really lovely. It does show some past repairs and wear from use, but is overall solid, and we do not see any major structural damage. The characteristic Halbach & Sons butt cap is lovely, showing an eagle with arrows in the left foot, and a laurel branch in the right. The thirteen stars are arranged above the eagles head on the tang of the butt cap. There is a very nice brass tipped wooden ramrod under the barrel, which looks to be a period replacement.

Condition of the pistol is simply lovely, showing a great patina. This would make a great addition to any Early American firearms collection.
