Original U.S. Civil War Era Percussion Belt Pistol by J. V. Trump of Philadelphia - c.1860

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This has come out of an English Collection of over 50 years and understandably it was an item I.M.A. felt needed to by repatriated to its homeland.

This pistol was built along the lines of the famous Philadelphia Derringer that John Wilkes-Booth used to assassinate President Lincoln. However, this is fitted with a longer 8" octagonal barrel, of about .44 caliber. It has a back action percussion lock with J. V. TRUMP clearly marked on it, and PHILADELPHIA is marked on the barrel directly in front of the small back sight. The checkered Walnut bag shaped grip extends to half way up the barrel, and has a German silver barrel wedge escutcheon. The iron trigger guard is in good condition, and it comes complete with its period wooden ram rod.

A really nice little pistol circa 1860 of very good quality and a notable maker.
