It has a 37 1\/2\" barrel and is 54\" in overall length. The lock is marked faintly in the Austrian style \u003cstrong\u003e852\u003c\/strong\u003e for 1852, and the fore stock has been shortened to half stock, which was easier to use as a hunting weapon on the frontier. We checked the bore, and though worn, it is definitely rifled.
