The recovery site was where Federal cavalry destroyed a train loaded with arms that was en route to Bentonville, North Carolina. The piece has been cleaned and well preserved. There is some chipping on the edge of the blade and holes in the socket. However, this is solid and one of the better recovered specimens from this particular cache of weapons.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe overall length (blade + socket) is about 19\".
