The cylinder is marked with \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e50794\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, while the cylinder arbor pin and loading rammer are marked with \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e0794\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. Only the barrel wedge is non-matching, marked with \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e9838\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. This would be considered \"Mostly Matching\", and barrel wedges are the piece most often lost or damaged.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe serial number indicates indicates the year of manufacture as \u003cstrong\u003e1864\u003c\/strong\u003e, during the later years of the U.S. Civil War, so it almost certainly saw service during the conflict. As this revolver has a serial number over 187000, it has a six round .31 caliber cylinder, instead of the previous five. It also features a 5\" barrel, and is in nice tight condition with nice lightly aged finish on the steel. Most importantly, the original \u003cstrong\u003e\"Stagecoach Robbery\"\u003c\/strong\u003e cylinder engraving can still be seen, and is more than 80% intact! The \u003cstrong\u003eCOLT'S PATENT\u003c\/strong\u003e marking is intact as well, and the engraving throughout the cylinder is visible. The walnut grips are in very good shape, with a lovely color. They still retain almost all of the original \"piano varnish\" finish applied at the factory, with wear around the bottom as is standard.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe revolver functions well, with a crisp action and good excellent indexing and lockup. The trigger is well adjusted and there are no issues with dry firing. The frame to barrel connection is wobble free. The bore is in excellent condition for a percussion revolver, with clear lands and grooves and a bright finish. There is just a bit of oxidation and wear, mostly near the forcing cone. The brass front sight is still present and in very good condition.
