ZiS was a factory designation and stood for Zavod imeni Stalina (\"factory named after Stalin\"), the honorific title of Artillery Factory No. 92, which first constructed this gun.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eUnloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not considered NFA weapons. It is very difficult to find artillery pieces this large from the Soviet Union still intact like this. This would have been fired from the 76mm divisional gun M1942 (ZiS-3). This gun was designed to combine the light carriage from the 57mm ZiS-2 anti-tank gun and the powerful 76.2 mm barrel from the F-22USV.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe round measures 24 ¾” tall with the projectile inserted. There is heavy oxidation and some material loss to the projectile as shown. The fuze at the tip still unscrews for inspection of the interior.
