This is a very scarce original Soviet Cold War KZU-2 (КЗУ-2) inert linear shaped demolition charge designed for use against metal, reinforced-concrete, and other structural targets. The KZU-2 could be rapidly positioned on steel targets using removable magnets, while integral rings allowed the charge to be secured with tape or similar material when used against non-magnetic surfaces. This example has been rendered completely inert and is intended solely as a historical display and study piece.

On the sides are two strips with grooves for fastening magnets and two rings for tying the charge with tape on a non-steel target. The HE Shaped-Charge (SC) has a semi-cylindrical cumulative cavity with a steel lining. Magnets provide fast charge mounting on the target, with each magnet placed in a spring-loaded clip.

This example retains great stenciled markings on the side, KZU-2 INERT, and on the top, K3Y-2 (3)-20-76. The smaller side is marked:

YK3Y-2
((46)) 1-86

This likely denotes a date of January 1986. The mine measures 6 x 4 x 3¼”. The spring clip on the top holds in the detonator tube.

The KZU-2 is a particularly interesting example of specialized Soviet Cold War combat-engineer equipment. Its compact linear shaped-charge construction, provision for magnetic attachment, surviving spring clip, and clearly visible 1986-era markings distinguish it from more conventional demolition blocks and land mines. In its present inert configuration, this example provides a useful study piece illustrating the specialized demolition equipment developed for Soviet engineer and sabotage applications during the later Cold War.

https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-soviet-russian-cold-war-inert-rare-kzu-2-magnetic-linear-shaped-demolition-charge-dated-1986
