The frame comes with the original page showing the description of the print and its run, and the original protector that the print was shipped in when it was originally purchased from the Greenwich Workshop.

The flight of the Enola Gay and the capture of the island of Iwo Jima, were two of the most significant events of World War II. William Phillips wanted, in some small way, to pay tribute to those who captured that island fortress even as he paid homage to the United States Army Air Forces and the crew of the Enola Gay for the mission. Both events hastened the end of the war and made the invasion of the Japanese homeland unnecessary.

The frame measures 28 ¼ x 30 ¼” and is in great shape. The print itself is signed by Phillips and was countersigned by Paul Tibbets, Thomas W. Ferebee, Theodore VanKirk, Morris R. Jeppson, and Richard H. Nelson.

The frame also has six additional signatures including Robert A. Lewis, Co-Pilot, George R.
