Item Description
Original Item: Only One Set Available. Several years ago IMA acquired a large bayonet collection from a very enthusiastic European collector. Some of these we have decided to sell in small groups, giving starting collectors a great chance to pick up a few bayonets to get started with collecting.
The first bayonet we have is a Dutch T-Back Sword bayonet for use with the M1895 Mannlicher Carbine. The bayonet is quite long, with a 19 1/2 inch blade, intended to increase the effective range of the fixed bayonet on the shorter carbine. It is in very good condition, with an original leather scabbard and belt frog.
The ricasso of the blade has the A (SCALES) C logo of Alexander Coppel & Co. located in the legendary "City of Blades", Solingen. This company made large amounts of export bayonets during the 19th century.
The second set is a small French Knife bayonet for the M1866 Chassepot "Cadet" Rifle, which is a scaled down training version. The bayonet is similarly scaled down, looking more like a knife. Condition is very good, with an original steel scabbard.
A nice set of bayonets, complete with scabbards and ready to add to your collection!
