This is a fantastic and totally correct U.S. Model 1826 Flintlock Navy pistol made by Simeon North in Middletown, Connecticut one of only about 3,000 made. North had a 53 year relationship with the U.S. War Department, and the contract for the Model 1826 pistols was the last contract North had for martial pistols from the U.S. Government. The North Model 1826 Navy Pistol is virtually a smaller version of the Model 1819 with a few slight alterations. It is most readily identifiable from the sharp angle of the grip that is not seen on Model 1819 pistols. Most of these pistols were converted to percussion later in the 19th century, however this example is still in the original flintlock configuration!

We have only had one of these pistols previously, and it was converted, so this is the first time we have had the original flintlock configuration. Not only that, it has a lovely curly walnut stock that really looks great in the light! It is correctly marked on the lock plate with U.S. over S. NORTH and dated 1828 on the lock plate tail. This pistol has a brass blade front sight and an oval sight on the tang. There are traces of proof marks on the barrel breech, but they are illegible.

The pistol still retains its swivel "captured" ramrod, this pistol has all steel mounts and also its original iron belt hook. The steel and iron surfaces show an aged polished patina, with no major oxidation issues we can see. We checked the lock action, and it holds correctly at half cock, firing at full. The stock is in great shape, with a lovely glow, showing moderate wear from service. There is a crack running from the rear lock screw to the breech, a very common areas to see these, and another small one forward of the trigger guard.

A fantastic unconverted example of a Rare U.S. Naval pistol, ready to add to your collection!

Specifications:

Year of Manufacture: 1828
Caliber: .54 inches
Ammunition Type: Lead Ball & Powder with Percussion Cap
Barrel Length: 8 ½ inches
Overall Length: 13 ¼ inches
Action: Percussion Lock
Feed System: Muzzle-Loaded

NOTE: International orders of antique firearms MUST be shipped using UPS WW Services (courier).
