Over the years, IMA has purchased many collections and groups of antique guns, in which case we need to take all of them, as we did in Nepal. While these collections were generally full of guns that relatively good condition, they also had some that were less complete and unfortunately would take more restoration time than we were able to give them. We kept them in storage, possibly for future products, but have now decided to offer these "As Found" antique firearms to our customers as restoration projects. These are all original and as we received them, except for cleaning the dirt and grime off the exterior.

Please note that these are still real antique guns, and are being sold in "As is" condition at a significant discount from what they would sell at if we were to fully restore them. We will do our best to photograph and describe them and know that our customers will know exactly what they are getting. Some of these, such as this example, look to have possibly been project or parts guns, and are missing a significant amount of parts. These are being sold in "Grade 2" condition, and on these ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

This is a nice Grade 2 "As Found" example of a German .72 caliber, "Potsdam" Model 1809 smoothbore, single-shot muzzleloader. These were designed at the large Prussian Arsenal in Potsdam outside of Berlin, though they were also manufactured elsewhere. The musket measures a total length of 56 1/2" with a 41" long barrel, and has been converted to percussion configuration, as many were in the mid 1800s. It is still in the original 0.72" caliber with a smoothbore barrel, and the lock plate has a curved tail that terminates into a small teat that differentiates it from the later 1839 model.

The barrel nocks form features a Prussian Crown over FW monogram, for Prussian King Frederick William III, who reigned 1797 - 1840. The finials of the trigger guard and the tang of the butt plate terminate in distinct three-pointed ends, correct for this model. There are no other markings we can make out on the musket at present.

Condition Notes:
- Overall condition shows significant oxidation to all metalwork on the musket and the bayonet.
- The lock is non functional. It does move but will not lock in any position.
- Stock is in good condition, though it looks to have some staining and water damage, with a crack on the left side of the wrist.
- Barrel bands and nose cap are missing, as is the lower barrel band screw.
- Ramrod is missing.

A very nice Grade 2 "As Found" percussion converted "Potsdam" musket, which would look perfect mounted on a wall.
