Baron Hotham (1794 - 1870) joined the Coldstream Guards as an Ensign in 1810 and was immediately sent to participate,1812-1814, in the Peninsular campaign,  where he was wounded at the Battle of Salamanca. He was promoted to Captain in 1813. He acceded to the title Baron in 1814 upon the death of his Grandfather, the third Baron Hotham.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe was at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 and received the Waterloo Medal.
