Original Japanese WWII Rising Sun Navy War Ensign Flag (79 x 46)

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The Rising Sun Flag design was originally used by feudal warlords in Japan during the Edo period. On May 15, 1870, as a policy of the Meiji government, it was adopted as the war flag of the Imperial Japanese Army, and on October 7, 1889, it was adopted as the naval ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy (Naval flags have the sun off center to the left). Neither of these flags are common on the market, but the Naval flag is especially rare.

This is a heavy wool multi-piece construction Naval Ensign rising sun flag that measures 79 inches by 46 inches offered in excellent condition with a vibrant red color. It features a heavy canvas heading and halyard tie line. This is the type of flag that would have flown on Japanese WWII Navy Vessels, smaller ships and boats. Amazing Rare!
