IJA 4th Cavalry Brigade was detached to the Central China Expeditionary Army's Second Army on October 11, 1938. On November 11, 1938, the Cavalry Group was assigned to the Japanese Twelfth Army. The leather is worn with minor cracking in the finish but is still solid. The interior shows field use and there are some faint Kanji markings under the lid, which are probably a date, but are too faded to read. The front of the lid has a period-attached star insignia with verdigris around it. The pouch comes with a partial broken leather strap meant to carry the pouch or to wear as a belt.
