On the back is a large red circle with the characters \u003cb\u003e萬國\u003c\/b\u003e, or \u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eAll Nations\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe design combines international flags with explicitly peace-oriented wording, making it a particularly intriguing example of Japanese political and popular textile culture from the 1930s and early 1940s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Japanese Rising sun flag is shown twice, along with a Japanese Navy-related flag that looks close to the Manchukuo Marine Police, a good research project.
