The trench art appears to be made from a piece of Brass, likely made from an American ship which was destroyed or captured by the Japanese, on a bakelite base, a very interesting material to use on this.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe back of the piece of brass has a notched channel which leads us to believe this was taken from an American ship. The bakelite base measures 3 x 6 x ½” and the entire piece is 2” tall. The ship appears to be depicted after having been attacked as there are many repeated punches of the same tool around the payload of the boat, possibly meant to depict as smoke.
