Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine set of WWII Imperial Japanese Type 93 trench periscope with telescopic top. It is marked with 5 x 10° / NIKKO / No 11012. The same number 11012 is also marked on the case. The optics are excellent fully functional. Both focus diopter adjustments work, though they are a bit stiff, as does the angle control.
The periscope consists of a black painted wooden handle with a inset brass bolt at one end which attaches to the base of a black tubular metal body which carries an adjustable eyepiece at one end. A sliding bar attached to one side of the tube carries a 5 x 10 degree prism lens which reflects the view down the tube to the viewer. The storage case is made from painted aluminum with internal wooden and leather fittings for securing the periscope. There are fittings down each side of the case for securing a (missing) leather strap.
A great functional set that comes more than ready for further research and display.
