This is an excellent WWII Japanese military flashlight signal light in fully working condition. To operate the user flips the hand crank out, turns it several times, then flips the switch on the side, which starts the dynamo turning. Push the button on the light itself and it shines brightly. It doesn't cast much of a beam but it is enough to send signals. These lights were also commonly used by Japanese tank crews in the small dark confines of Armored vehicles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis example still turns on, but there isn’t much of a light at all, with the coil lighting up but that’s about it. It is a miracle that this is working at all!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe interior is a metal case inside which is covered with heavy khaki-colored web canvas. Japanese kanji can be seen on the bakelite case of the light itself and on the interior lid.
