This is an excellent condition WWII production black finished leather holster for the standard issue Walther P-38 pistol in 9mm. This holster is nicely marked between the belt loops with \u003cstrong\u003edkk \/ 44\u003c\/strong\u003e indicating manufacture in 1944 by leather working firm \u003cstrong\u003eFriedrich Offermann \u0026amp; Söhne of Bensberg\u003c\/strong\u003e, who made numerous holsters during the war. It is also marked with \u003cstrong\u003eWaffenamt Eagle \/ WaA195\u003c\/strong\u003e, the correct inspector for this maker. This example is not marked with P38 on the back.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe holster is complete and in great condition, with all stitching intact and the leather still very pliable. The stitching looks to be all original, with no repairs or popped seams, though the original white color has somewhat faded from dirt and grease. The metal hardware shows minimal oxidation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a very nice WWII marked example of a P.38 holster, and would make the perfect accessory for a P.38 pistol that no longer has its holster. Ready to display!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe \u003cstrong\u003eWalther Pistole 38 (P.38)\u003c\/strong\u003e pistol was first introduced in 1938 as a replacement for the P.08. The P.38 was a more cost-efficient and more reliable in war conditions such as mud\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eand rain. The P.08 was a typical prewar German gun, over engineered to perfection, with a sensitive toggle breech system that would malfunction when dirt was involved. The P.38 was a workhorse that did just what it was meant to do. It could handle most harsh battlefield conditions and as such the closed hardshell holster was discontinued later in the war and replaced for a partially open softshell holster.
