Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic unissued example of a German WWII Issue M31 Feldflasche (Field Bottle) aluminum canteen water bottle rig, with all parts maker marked S.S.L. 39. It has the correct aluminum screw top cap, a genuine wool cover with STOCKO marked snaps, and a large size aluminum cup. This is held together by the standard black leather belt harness, which has a 38-dated aluminum belt hook on the back, for attaching to the combat rigging. It even still has the paper wrapping around the neck! It is truly unissued, and the only real issue is that the leather is a bit due to age, and does have some finish cracking due to this around the buckle.
"S.S.L." is the makers abbreviation, which stands for maker Sieper & Sohne of Lüdenscheid, and "39" is of course for the date 1939. Canteen makers never switched to the three letter code system during the war, and continued to use abbreviations throughout the war. The aluminum top cap still has the sealing washer, though we cannot guarantee it still holds water.
All components are in excellent unissued condition, with minimal storage wear. If you were looking for a primo example of this canteen, look no further! Ready to display!- This product is available for international shipping. Shipping not available to: Australia, France, or Germany
