In the German case, these were made of pith, had prominent ventilation holes in the crown, were khaki in color and bore two metal shields; on the right the national colors and on the left the German eagle. There were several models made, with the first having cotton outer covering made of fabric sewn together. This is the second model, with a felt covering.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis particular example is in excellent unissued condition, with all parts intact and in great shape! The only wear is from age and oxidation of some of the metal parts. We see no evidence that it was ever worn in the field. The original olive\/khaki felt covering is completely intact, and retains its original color well. The helmet band, which hides the attachment rivets for the chin strap and liner, is great as well, with an intact top vent cap. The leather trim and chin strap show just a tiny bit of wear to the green finish, and are still supple and soft. The two aluminum badges are intact, with no oxidation, and just a bit of paint flaking on the national colors badge.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe interior of the helmet still has all of the original green felt covering intact. with a bit of color fading. The liner itself shows only a bit of scuffing around the rim, and all of the attachment cotter pins are still present.  It is embossed with \u003cstrong\u003eJHS\u003c\/strong\u003e and the underside of the sweatband is marked size\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e56\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003ewith\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e1942\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003edate. The red felt inner lining is complete with a nice vibrant color.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis will make a fantastic addition to any German WWII Afrikakorps collection!\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Original Items","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":39620415881285,"sku":"ONJR21075","price":625.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1524\/1342\/products\/ONJR21075__08.jpg?v=1637251420","url":"https:\/\/www.ima-usa.com\/products\/original-german-wwii-unissued-2nd-model-1942-dated-afrikakorps-dak-sun-helmet-by-jhs-with-badges-size-56","provider":"International Military Antiques","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
