They were the vanguard of the NSDAP and eventually controlled nearly every function of German life and much of Occupied Europe. When WWII began in earnest, the SS-Verfügungstruppe (SS-VT) (SS Dispositional Troops) became the Waffen-SS (\"Armed SS\"), an official military branch of the SS organization. Its formations included men from NSDAP ruled Germany, along with volunteers and conscripts from both occupied and unoccupied lands.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a lovely lovely correct 2nd Pattern BeVo type machine embroidered EM\/NCO \u003cem\u003eSS-Ärmelhoheitsabzeichen\u003c\/em\u003e (SS-Sleeve Allegiance Badge), made with silver thread on a black nylon background. It has never been installed on a uniform, and still retains the rectangular background, which would usually be cut folded underneath when installed. The BeVo process produced insignia in long strips, which were cut apart and sewn on.
