This is a very interesting set of small German WWII Era flags, which we believe to be for Naval use on the River Elbe in central Germany. The first item is a 7 1/4" x 14" Wimpel (Pennant) marked with a sailboat logo and the city of DESSAU, which is on the River Elbe. This almost certainly is from a WWII era sailing organization in the city, and it even has a maker marking on the lower corner of the canvas header, which reads:

Max Küst
BERLIN S.W.19.
NEIDERWALLSTR. 32

There is a logo next to this, and it looks like the company specialized in Naval flags, based on the "water" motif at the bottom of the logo. The flat shows some age toning, and also moth damage, as it feels like it is made of wool. There is a loop on the top of the header, and a securing ring on the bottom for attachment.

The second item is a small NSDAP National Flag measuring 12" x 17 1/2", which we believe may be a small Goschflagge (Jack Flag) flown on the "Jack staff" of the boat. It is definitely age toned from use, and is single sided, with the entire design printed onto the fabric. It has a loop at the top of the header, and a small bit of halyard at the bottom, probably broken off.

A very nice set of German WWII era naval flags, ready to research and display!

The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945.
