During the period many new types of identification were required, both for civilians and military personnel, both as a method of control and to help protect vital parts of the German war machine. These books often recorded quite a bit about the owners life, much more than just their basic information. The military issued books in particulars also served as records of their service as well as pay books, so they were definitely important to keep safe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis lovely set consists of the following Identification books:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e- One German WWII Deutsches Reich Arbeitsbuch für Ausländer\u003c\/strong\u003e (German National Workbook for Foreigners), named to what looks like \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGwolokia Konopazka\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. Page 8 indicates that the book was issued on \u003cstrong\u003e21. 3. 1944\u003c\/strong\u003e.These books grew out of a 1935 law requiring registration of work, and documentation of work history for German citizens-and only German citizens, who were issued the Deutsches Reich Arbeitsbuch. Foreigners who worked in Germany carried an Arbeitsbuch für Ausländer which had a picture of the owner, as this example does on page 2.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e- One German Postwar Occupation Kennkarte\u003c\/strong\u003e (ID Card), named to \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eErna Senne, geb. Wedde\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, which was issued just after the war on \u003cstrong\u003e10. September 45\u003c\/strong\u003e. It indicates both her married name and her maiden name, and the book has \"sanitized\" stamps on the interior. We can also see that the front of the ID was sanitized, but then later cleaned away, showing that they continued to use the old ID books until they were used up.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e- One German WWII Deutsches Reich Arbeitsbuch\u003c\/strong\u003e (German National Workbook), named to what looks like \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRudolf Bremer\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. As indicated on page 7 the book was issued \u003cstrong\u003e21. Okt. 1938\u003c\/strong\u003e, and it is the post 1935 pattern book, with the new Reichsadler Design. Their last name is definitely \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePoppki\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, but the first name we cannot make out.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA great set of German WWII Era Identification material, full of great translation and research possibilities!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOf note:\u003c\/strong\u003e some of the writing in this book is in \u003cem\u003eKurrentschrift\u003c\/em\u003e, an older form of Germanic script writing, which is why the all the \"u\" letters are written as \"ŭ\". In this script the lowercase \"n\" and \"u\" are identical, so the latter gets the arc shaped mark over it.
