This is a very nice German WWII Era Cased Presentation \"Table Medal\", a large award usually displayed on a shelf or table, as the name implies. The award itself measures approximately \u003cstrong\u003e4 ½” x 4 ¼”\u003c\/strong\u003e and appears to be constructed of a cast iron, originally lacquered to protect it. This example was slightly modified, by adding a post to the bottom, and then mounted in a wooden base. It looks to have seen much display, as the surface now has a peppery oxidized patina, possibly from display where it was exposed to moisture for decades.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe front of the award has lovely artwork by Paul Casberg which features a beautiful horse standing atop a Reichs eagle surrounded by a wreath. Paul Casberg was a renowned artist and graphic designer based in Berlin and was contracted by the legendary Eickhorn to submit new patterns or designs for edged weapons and German daggers, swords, and related regalia produced throughout the Third Reich era. He was also instrumental in the design of many graphic blueprints used in advertising and catalog illustrations.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe reverse of the award features the “same” wreath with the SA symbol centered at the bottom. It has a block letter statement over the signature of Der Führer A H.
