Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a fine example of totally original Model M40 M-1940 German WW2 large size 66 helmet shell. The shell is stamped EF 66 indicating that Emaillierwerke AG, of Fulda, Germany manufactured it. Size 66 is a nice large size that can accommodate liners from 58cm to 60cm or US 7 1/4 to 7 1/2. Size 66 shells are always hard to find and are therefore more valuable to a collector.

- In 1944 Montgomery Conceived a plan to leapfrog across Holland capturing key bridges with Airborne Units and shorten the war.

- The Eindhoven and Nijmegen bridges were captured quickly.

- The Bridge at Arnhem proved to be a Bridge Too Far’.

- The 9thSS Panzer division was refitting after it’s escape from the Falaise pocket.

- This unit was unreported by British Intelligence.

- This helmet represents those men of the 9thSS Panzer who stopped the British Airborne at the bridge at Arnhem.
