Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a fine example of a totally original Model M40 M-1940 German WW2 large size 66 helmet shell, refurbished by a master German camouflage restorer. The interior, left side, apron of the shell has a stamped manufacturer's code and size E.F.66, indicating that Emaillierwerke AG, of Fulda, Germany manufactured it. It is also stamped with lot number 22151 under the rear skirt. Size 66 is a nice large size that can accommodate liners from 58cm to 59cm or US 7 1/4 to 7 3/8. Size 66 shells are much harder to find and are therefore more valuable to a collector.

- 21st Pz.Dv. was formed from the 5th Light Division in 1941, the unit went on to serve in all the famous Afrikakorp battles such as Benghazi, Tripoli, Tobruk, and El Alamein
- During the famous Afrika battles with the British, it was common for Aid Stations to be over run back and forth in the mobile battle
- Casualties from both sides were treated by German and British medical personnel side by side in the same tent working on all men regardless of nationality
- Chivalry seen in its purist form
- This helmet is representative of those worn by a German Sanitätsunteroffizier (Medical NCO) 1942-43
