Well this is something we have not really seen before! Here we have a lovely service used example of a very hard to find NSKK unit parade pennant (German: wimpel). The NSKK was the National Socialist Motorized Corps, they trained in the operation of military and civilian vehicles and assisted with transportation in the buildup to WWII. Similar to the SA Sturmfahne (Storm flag), these were used during events to indicate which unit the attending NSKK members were from.

The pennant measures a very displayable 21" in hoist by 44 1/4" in fly, and features silver bullion trim around the outside edge, and there are 5 snap hooks on the header side for securing the pennant to a pole or other object. The pennant is double sided, featuring black bordered white circles on both sides, which have sewn on black fabric swas insignia on them. As with other NSKK unit flags we have seen, there is an oversized bullion embroidered NSKK drivers diamond with a twisted bullion border in the lower corner by the header.

There is a green diamond with a twisted bullion border at the top marked with 1 / M141, for the 1st Sturm (company), 141st Motorstandarte (Regiment), while there is a square 24 / M35 unit marking in the center, for the 24th Sturm / 35th Motarstandarte. We do not know why there are two unit markings on the pennant. Possibly one branched off from the other, or two were combined.

The pennant looks have had a long service life, and did suffer exposure to the elements, which has led to degradation of the material and also a good amount of staining from the metal hanger hooks, and possibly oxidation of the bullion on the insignia. These were made to have the same markings on both sides, however the large driver badge and the upper unit diamond are missing from what is usually considered the "front" of the pennant, though you can see where they used to be. The other side retains the insignia, however the central swas is quite torn and degraded. We assume the pennant was rolled up after capture and got wet, causing the degradation.

A very interesting "salty" service used example of a hard to find NSKK Unit Pennant Flag, ready to research and display!

The development of the NSKK, National Sozialistisches Kraftfahr Korps, (National Socialist Motor Corps), can be traced back to 1923, when the SA introduced a Kraftfahr Abteilung, (Motor Section), to transport personnel as required. In 1928 the SA Motor section was expanded to Kraftfahrstaffeln, (Motor Squadrons). In an attempt to create a national motor corps the NSAK, National Sozialistisches Automobil Korps, (National Socialist Automobile Corps), was formed in April 1930 as an NSDAP auxiliary organization, which was subordinate to the SA.

In early 1931 Adolf Hühnlein was appointed as Chief of the NSAK and proposed a name change to NSKK, which was officially accepted in April 1931. Before the introduction of a standardized belt buckle the NSKK used the SA pattern rectangular buckle in a variety of styles usually nickel or chrome-plated over brass or steel.

The NSKK served as a training organization, mainly instructing members in the operation and maintenance of high-performance motorcycles and automobiles. The NSKK was further used to transport NSDAP and SA officials/members. The NSKK also served as a roadside assistance group in the mid-1930s, comparable to the modern-day American Automobile Association or the British Automobile Association. With the outbreak of World War II NSKK ranks were recruited to serve in the transport corps of various German military branches. There was also a French section of the NSKK which was organized after the German occupation of France began in 1940. The NSKK was the smallest of the NSDAP Party organizations.

https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-german-wwii-nskk-national-socialist-motor-corps-unit-pennant-flag-21-x-44-1-4
