When Adolf AH joined the DAP in the autumn of 1919 he was to reform what was basically a debating society into an active political party. Appointed as the first chairman of the party on July 29TH 1921, AH was to restructure it along para-military lines in a hierarchy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis new NSDAP structure consisted of four ascending levels of government: the \u003cem\u003eOrtsgruppenleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (Local group leadership), the \u003cem\u003eKreisleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (District leadership), the \u003cem\u003eGauleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (Regional District leadership), and the \u003cem\u003eReichsleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (National leadership). Each group was distinguished by a specific color of piping on the collar tabs and visor cap. From 1936 to 1939 in this scheme, light blue was for the \u003cem\u003eOrtsgruppe\u003c\/em\u003e level, black for \u003cem\u003eKreis\u003c\/em\u003e level, burgundy red for \u003cem\u003eGau\u003c\/em\u003e level, and gold yellow for the \u003cem\u003eReich\u003c\/em\u003e level. After that the Kreis level changed to white piping.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a very good used condition NSDAP Armband cutoff insignia section from the \u003cem\u003eReichsleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (National leadership) level, with the correct gold-yellow piping on the edge. We assume it was attached to a uniform, so it was easier to just cut off the insignia and leave the rest. The top and bottom edges of the armband are trimmed with a 10mm wide, machine woven horizontal strip of repeating bullion oak-leaves. This indicates the party rank of \u003cem\u003eLeiter einer Hauptstelle\u003c\/em\u003e (Head Area Leader) due to the extra gold piping.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis lovely armband section is constructed of a red wool\/cotton blend cloth with a central black swas on a white rayon field, all bordered by gold bullion thread. The golden oak leaf borders and piping are machine stitched to the band, and look great. \u003cstrong\u003eTotal length is 6 1\/8” with a width of 5”.\u003c\/strong\u003e The armband section is in very good used condition, with the colors still very vibrant. It does show some staining, and there also is light mothing and\/or wear to the fuzzy \"nap\" of the fabric in areas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA very nice cutoff example of one of these highly decorative armbands! Reichs level NSDAP armbands are quite hard to find, and this is only the second example that we have had!
