The NSDAP or \u003cem\u003eNationalsozialistische Deutsche ArbeiterPartei\u003c\/em\u003e, (National Socialist German Worker’s Party), was originally founded in Munich as the DAP, \u003cem\u003eDeutsche Arbeiterpartei\u003c\/em\u003e, (German Worker’s Party), on January 5TH 1919. When Adolf AH joined the DAP in the autumn of 1919 he was to reform what was basically a debating society into an active political party. Appointed as the first chairman of the party on July 29TH 1921, AH was to restructure it along para-military lines in a hierarchy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis new NSDAP structure consisted of four ascending levels of government: the \u003cem\u003eOrtsgruppenleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (Local group leadership), the \u003cem\u003eKreisleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (District leadership), the \u003cem\u003eGauleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (Regional District leadership), and the \u003cem\u003eReichsleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (National leadership). Each group was distinguished by a specific color of piping on the collar tabs and visor cap. From 1936 to 1939 in this scheme, light blue was for the \u003cem\u003eOrtsgruppe\u003c\/em\u003e level, black for \u003cem\u003eKreis\u003c\/em\u003e level, burgundy red for \u003cem\u003eGau\u003c\/em\u003e level, and gold yellow for the \u003cem\u003eReich\u003c\/em\u003e level. After that the Kreis level changed to white piping.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is an excellent condition NSDAP Armband from the \u003cem\u003eKreisleitung\u003c\/em\u003e (District leadership) level, with the correct white piping on the edge. The top and bottom edges of the armband are trimmed with a 20mm wide, machine woven horizontal strip of repeating golden yellow celleon oak-leaves, which has 2mm gold piping on either side. This indicates the party rank of \u003cem\u003eLeiter eines Hauptamtes\u003c\/em\u003e (Head Department Leader) due to the extra gold piping.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis lovely armband is constructed of a red wool\/cotton blend cloth with a central black swas on a white rayon field, all bordered by yellow\/gold cotton thread. The golden oak leaf borders and piping are machine stitched to the band, and look great. \u003cstrong\u003eTotal length is 20 1\/4” with a width of 5”.\u003c\/strong\u003e The armband is in good lightly worn condition, with the colors still very vibrant. It does show some staining, and there also is light mothing in several areas, which has resulted in some small holes. We assume this happened sometime after the war concluded.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe inner side still features the original \u003cstrong\u003eRZM\u003c\/strong\u003e tag which is a complete example. The tag has a correct \u003cstrong\u003e“F”\u003c\/strong\u003e tax code and features a \u003cstrong\u003eRZM\u003c\/strong\u003e logo. The ink stamped numerical designation of the \u003cstrong\u003ehersteller\u003c\/strong\u003e (manufacturer) is \u003cstrong\u003eA4 \/ 23\u003c\/strong\u003e and has the lot \u003cstrong\u003eNo. 079420 \u003c\/strong\u003ebeneath it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA really nice example of one of these highly decorative armbands!
