It owes its name to the Kyffhäuser Monument (German:\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eKyffhäuserdenkmal\u003c\/em\u003e), a memorial built on the summit of the 473 m high Kyffhäuser mountain near Bad Frankenhausen, in the state of Thuringia in central Germany. It was not a political affiliated organization, and was open to all German war veterans.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen the National Socialist party came into party however, as with all national organizations, the group was absorbed under the NSDAP umbrella. In the name of Gleichschaltung (Co-Ordination or NSDAPfication), the Kyffhäuserbund was  after the NSDAP takeover of power in 1933. Five years later, its name was altered to\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eNS-Reichskriegerbund ‘Kyffhäuser’ e.V.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e(National Socialist Reich Warriors Association ‘Kyffhäuser‘ - RSRKB), becoming the sole and exclusive organization representing the Veterans´ interests in the Third Reich. The organization would then be disbanded in March of 1943 and its members would be drafted into Volksturm service in 1945, as the fall of WWII Germany approached.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe emblem of the group, which previously had an Image of the Kyffhäuser Monument in the middle, had that replaced with a\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eSwas\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e(Swas). This is inside the Iron Cross emblem of the\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eKyffhäuserbund\u003c\/em\u003e, displayed in the center on a red shield.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis NSRKB Officer's Armband is in very good used condition. It measures approximately 14 1\/4\" x 4 3\/4\", and is sewn together at the ends. It bears the correct NSRKB emblem, with the silver bullion thread stripe indicating that it is for an officer.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe body of the band is very nice black woven felt, which still has lots of the original fuzzy \"nap\" to the fabric, with little sign of damage or moth. There is also a machine stitch attached NSRKB shield, which is BeVo style machine embroidered, and in very nice shape.
