Typically clear glass was used for beer, while green or brown glass would have been for wine, but this was not a hard and fast rule.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe white porcelain stopper is nicely marked on top with \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eEIGENTUM der LUFTWAFFE\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, or Property of the Luftwaffe. There are also faint maker and lot markings on the bottom, making this an interesting research opportunity. Measures approximately 8 inches tall, and 2 1\/2 inches wide.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bottle still retains the rubber seal under the porcelain cap, which is shrunken, however still somewhat soft. The cap and bottle mouth are in great shape, though the metal closure bale is somewhat bent, but the bottle still closes properly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe other bottle’s white porcelain stopper is nicely dated \u003cstrong\u003e1944\u003c\/strong\u003e and coded \u003cstrong\u003eFL UV\u003c\/strong\u003e with a Luftwaffe eagle. FL UV stands for \u003cem\u003eFlieger Unterkunft Verwaltung\u003c\/em\u003e, or the Flight Barracks Administration, the agency responsible for Luftwaffe accommodations. The rubber washer under the porcelain cap is still present, but it has deteriorated over the years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese are seldom encountered and would look great with a German WWII display.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApparently many of these were found in a French Rubbish dump 70 years after the close of WWII.
