It still has the original crown stiffener installed, so it retains it's original round appearance, without the \"sag\" usually seen. This NCO \u003cem\u003eSchirmmütze\u003c\/em\u003e Visor Cap is an original high quality manufactured cap. It is fabricated in Luftwaffe blue gray \u003cem\u003eFliegerblau\u003c\/em\u003e (Flier's Blue) wool gabardine, with wide black wool cap band, plus three rows of \u003cem\u003egoldgelb\u003c\/em\u003e (Gold-Yellow) color piping for the flight branch (\u003cem\u003eWaffenfarbe)\u003c\/em\u003e around the circumference. This included Aviator troops such as pilots and ground personnel as well as \u003cem\u003eFallschirmjäger\u003c\/em\u003e (parachute troops).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCap is decorated with the correct insignia, including a finely-detailed zinc eagle of the mid-war tail design on the peak, and an oak leaf wreath with stylized wings and central tri-color cockade on the band; the latter is made of aluminum with a red and black painted cockade. The black-finished patent leather chin strap rests upon the visor and is made up of three pieces: the central piece with two magnetic metal buckles and joined to the flanking end pieces via rectangular loops, the end pieces attached to black finished buttons on either side. It is still in very good condition, with the expected aging of the patent leather finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe visor is the classic black color with stitched edge trim, made of pressed vulcanfibre, and a green underside. The edge trim is missing on part of the underside, and the edge is worn through on a good portion of the visor.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe butterscotch-colored leather sweatband is perforated along the front edge with five tiny rows of forty ventilation holes each, the ends of the sweatband pinned together on the left side. There are no major tears or repairs, however the stitching on the front has deteriorated, so the visor and sweatband are loose.
