Typically clear glass was used for beer while green or brown glass would have been for wine, but this was not a hard and fast rule.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe white porcelain stopper is faintly dated \u003cstrong\u003e1940\u003c\/strong\u003e and coded \u003cstrong\u003eFL UV\u003c\/strong\u003e with a Luftwaffe eagle. FL UV stands for \u003cem\u003eFlieger Unterkunft Verwaltung\u003c\/em\u003e, or the Flight Barracks Administration, the agency responsible for Luftwaffe accommodations. Measures approximately \u003cstrong\u003e7 ¾\u003c\/strong\u003e inches tall and \u003cstrong\u003e2 ½\u003c\/strong\u003e inches wide at the base, getting slightly wider towards the shoulder. There is also a maker marking on the bottom, making this an interesting research opportunity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe rubber washer under the porcelain cap is barely present, besides being heavily deteriorated. The inside of the bottle also still has the dirt that was inside it when recovered. There is a bit of chipping on the stopper, and there is also a good amount of rust on the cage, though it should still function correctly.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese are seldom encountered and would look great with a German WW2 display. Apparently found in a French Rubbish dump 70 years after the close of WW2.
