This is a very nice example of the classic German Wehrmacht LP-42 signal flare pistol, which entered service in 1943. The Leuchtpistole 42 is of all steel construction, uses 26.5 mm flares, and was available in zinc or black finish. It superseded the previous LP34, which was made of aluminum, and took longer to make than the stamped steel body of the LP42. This example bears original German maker code \u003cstrong\u003eeuh\u003c\/strong\u003e, which stands for \u003cstrong\u003eC. \u0026amp; W. Meinel-Scholer,\u003c\/strong\u003e located at Klingenthal in Sachsen (Saxony). To the left of this it is stamped with serial number \u003cb\u003e163840\u003c\/b\u003e, which matches the serial number on the barrel. It is also nicely Waffenamt marked on the left side of the breech, however we cannot read the code due to wear.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCompletely Original German WWII manufacture in very good complete condition with lovely brown \/ red bakelite ribbed grip panels. The pistol is very clean, and even still has a good amount of the original zinc finish in places. The pistol breaks open correctly with ejection, has an intact firing pin, and dry fires. It also has the \"loaded\" indicator on the rear of the breech.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLike many we have seen, this has the UK \u003cstrong\u003e1\"\/ nn25\u003c\/strong\u003e mark in a circle in the top, as well as Israeli arsenal markings on the left side. Many of these were in use well after the war and saw long service. It's very rare to find one of these that still has the correct matched barrel and frame.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese pistols used to be plentiful on the market, however with all known stocks being exhausted, they are now very hard to come by.
