On June 17TH 1936, Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler was appointed to the newly created position of \u003cem\u003eChef der Deutschen Polizei im Reichsministerium des Innern \u003c\/em\u003e(Chief of the German Police in the National Ministry of the Interior), effectively giving him full control of all police agencies within Germany including the \u003cem\u003eFeuerschutzpolizei\u003c\/em\u003e (Fire Protection Police). As a result of this appointment and the restructuring of all the separate German state police into a single national police force, new regulations were instituted on June 25th 1936 to bring about uniformity in dress for all police through-out the country.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is an excellent condition example of a German WWII \u003cem\u003eFeuerschutzpolizei \u003c\/em\u003e(Fire Protection police) EM-NCO M38 overseas cap with \u003cem\u003eKarminrot\u003c\/em\u003e (carmine red) piping which indicates it as being for the Fire Protection police. The overseas cap, nicknamed in German military slang as Schiffchen, or literally \"little ship\" as it resembled an up-turned row-boat, was standard issue for all military and many of the civic organizations of the NSDAP as well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis example is constructed of a very nice Navy Blue \"doeskin\" style wool exterior, with a very light gray cotton interior. It features a fine BeVo machine-embroidered civic police emblem, with the red-pink \u003cem\u003eKarminrot\u003c\/em\u003e (carmine red) piping on the top, confirming it as for the Fire Police. The cap shows very little use and does not have an RZM tag or size stamp. There is a small \u003cstrong\u003e6\u003c\/strong\u003e tag on the interior, and it measures 28cm in overall length. Condition of this cap is excellent, showing just a bit of light wear to the exterior, most likely from decades of storage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA great example of a scarce cap, ready for display.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Police were divided into eight assorted branches of service with each branch being assigned a specific identifying, Truppenfarbe, (branch of service color), with the Feuerschutzpolizei being allocated Karminrot (carmine red) truppenfarbe, which is close in color to magenta.
