It is a general purpose field telephone designed for wired communications. It was introduced in 1933 as a modern replacement for the previous WWI legacy field telephones the last of the series being the \u003cem\u003efeldfernsprecher\u003c\/em\u003e 26 (1926). The FF33 can also be connected to the Torn. Fu. D2 and Torn. Fu. Bl, and F series radio sets to act as a remote handset.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIngeniously designed with what appears to be one traditional wartime style handset, the lid interior of one has built in electrical circuit schematics for informational purposes. There is even \u003cstrong\u003estill a battery in the compartment\u003c\/strong\u003e, though we do not know if it is an original or a reproduction. The inner steel housing is maker marked and dated as follows:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ccenter\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e19532 \u0026lt;N T\u0026gt; 1938\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/center\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe \"Interlocking N T in a Diamond\" marking is the logo used at the time by \u003cem\u003eTelefonbau \u0026amp; Normalzeit GbmH\u003c\/em\u003e of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, which eventually became a part of Tenovis, which was then acquired by Avaya in 2004. There were many companies manufacturing these during WWII.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bakelite handset is marked with a \u003cem\u003eWaffenamt \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWaA900\u003c\/strong\u003e near the hanger clip, and then has a maker marking and the date \u003cstrong\u003e1942\u003c\/strong\u003e, so this is definitely WWII issue. The cord still has the original fabric covering and circuit diagram marked steel end plug.  There is also a \u003cem\u003eWaffenamt\u003c\/em\u003e on the metal housing under the white \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003ePrüftaste\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e (test button). The housing measures approximately 11\" W x 8 1\/2\" H x 4\".\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have not tested this for functionality but it appears to be complete and in working order.
