Only One Available. This is a very attractive German WWII era miniature bayonet knife patterned after the full size Seitengewehr 84/98 III used with the Karabiner 98k rifle. Measuring only 8¾” overall, it retains its nickel plated single edge blade, bird’s-head pommel, checkered black grip plates, compact crossguard, and black enamel metal scabbard. The ricasso bears two separate German export or maker markings, including STOEKER / GERMANY.

This is a miniature knife or souvenir rather than a functional rifle bayonet. It does not have a muzzle ring or operating bayonet catch and cannot be mounted on a Karabiner 98k.

The knife follows the general appearance of the German SG 84/98 III bayonet, which was the principal bayonet used with the Karabiner 98k during WWII. Miniature examples were commercially produced as souvenirs, presentation pieces, letter openers, or personal knives.

The blade is single edged with a single fuller, much more of a "dagger" blade than a bayonet blade, and other examples that we have seen fit this model as well. The nickel plate is still well retained, with some very minor loss at the ricasso, and it has properly not been sharpened. The ricasso is double-stamped, the lower stamp reading STOEKER / GERMANY and the upper stamp reading UTICA C. / GERMANY. It’s possible the upper was meant as an export stamp.

The scabbard has the standard black enamel lacquer, which is very well retained, showing a lovely pattern of checking and crazing due to age. It looks to be lined on the inside partly with felt.

The retained nickel plating, unsharpened blade, checkered grip plates, double ricasso markings, and well preserved black enamel scabbard make this an especially appealing miniature SG 84/98 style knife. The minor plating loss near the ricasso, grip wear, and crazing to the scabbard enamel are consistent with age, while the unusual STOEKER and UTICA C. markings warrant further research.

Specifications:
Blade Length: 5 1/2"
Blade Style: Single Edge w/ Fuller
Overall length: 8 3/4“
Crossguard: 1 5/8”
Scabbard Length: 6 1/4"

https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-german-wwii-era-miniature-heer-nickel-plated-98k-bayonet-knife-with-scabbard-by-stoeker
