Original German WWII 1944-dated Karabiner 98 kurz K98k Leather Sling by Ernst Melzig - Unissued Condition
Original Item: Only One Available. Opportunities to purchase an original 98K sling in this fine condition do not come by often, if it all! This is a totally genuine World War Two German issue hand sewn, steel hardware, K-98 leather sling. It will also work for G/K43 and MP43/44. It is complete with its original keeper, leather covered steel frosch (frog), and steel sliding buckle. It is in excellent condition, and due to the lack of any type of wear marks it appears that it was not ever fitted to a rifle. It is a bit stiff from age, but otherwise the leather is unmarred.
The back of the sling is maker stamped and dated: clg / 44. This is the German 3 letter code for Ernst Melzig of Leignitz, a maker of leather goods such as holsters, belts and slings. Below this is a Waffenampt proof.
This would be the perfect upgrade for a an excellent condition war-time production Mauser K98K rifle. Genuine wartime slings are nearly impossible to find in serviceable condition, much less in unissued condition such as this!
