The holster is substantially complete, although the front flap has significant stitching loss and should be handled carefully.

The front flap is missing much of its stitching and is rather weak overall. There is some more popped stitching which may be from period repairs. It is correctly marked P38 on the rear upper right, and is maker coded and dated jwa / 4, for maker Moritz Stecher of Freiberg in Saxony, a known producer of leather holsters for the P.08, P.38, and other pistols during the war.

The stitching is weak and missing as shown, so please exercise caution. The belt is 42” long and 45mm wide.

The combination of the 1944 Moritz Stecher P.38 softshell holster, surviving brown finish, late-war breakaway construction, 45mm open-claw officer belt, silvered buckle remnants, and “Ob. The naval rank inscription offers a worthwhile avenue for further research, while the holster itself remains a clearly identified example of late-war German P.38 equipment.

https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-german-wwii-1944-dated-brown-p-38-softshell-breakaway-holster-with-45mm-officer-s-open-claw-buckle-belt
