This is the classic design for Torpedo timing and used in U-Boats and E-Boats in the North Atlantic during the first and second world wars. Offered in great fully functional condition. The fluted knob on the top controls everything. You wind it up and when you push it in once the single seconds had starts moving immediately. On the second push, the second hand freezes at the time elapsed position. On the third push the timer resets itself to zero ready for reuse.

The manufacturer of this watch is Hanhart Chronographs, which was founded in 1882 in Diessenhofen, Switzerland, by Johann A. Hanhart. In 1902, operations were moved to Schwenningen in southern Germany, the stronghold of German watchmaking. They produced watches for the German Navy during WW1. This model, as indicated on the watchface, has a 7-Jewel Movement.

But who is Captain Otto Storm? The large "M" after his name suggests he was part of the Imperial German Navy, however we can find no Kapitan Storm as a U-BOAT Commander. Perhaps he was Captain of a Torpedo Boat? There has to be a logical explanation, as U-Boat Captains are too easy to research for someone to deliberately fake the inscription to deceive.

Great opportunity for someone to do a bit of in depth research to see what Otto Storm really did, or was he just impressing the ladies after World War One. Privately purchased young OTTO might only have been a lowly submariner with a great imagination OR was he something really special?
