The \u003cem\u003eDeutscher Volksgenossen Bund\u003c\/em\u003e (German Fellow-countrymen League or D.V.G.), was comprised of ethnic Germans from the long contested Alsace-Lorraine (Elsaß–Lothringen) region, who sought re-unification with Germany after the NSDAP takeover in 1933. They took the name \u003cem\u003eWestmark\u003c\/em\u003e (Western March) for Lorraine (\u003cem\u003eLothringen\u003c\/em\u003e), and although not formally associated with the NSDAP, they duplicated the design of their membership badge but reversed the colors. It is a 24mm diameter, die struck alloy and enameled badge featuring a black outer border, edged in silver, with the silver script, \u003cstrong\u003eD.V.G. \/ WESTMARK (LOTHR.)\u003c\/strong\u003e encompassing a white field with a red mobile Swaz, also edged in silver.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe reverse of the badge is marked by maker \u003cstrong\u003eW. REDO \/ SAARLAUTERN\u003c\/strong\u003e, for Werner Redo, a known maker from the fortress city in the Saarland, almost right on the border with France. They were uniquely located to supply badges to the D.V.G., and after the area was reunited with Germany in 1936, they supplied badges to the rest of Germany as well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCondition is very good, with the enamel in very good shape, and there is a lovely tarnished patina on the borders on the front and on the back as well.
