Item Description

Original Items: One of a Kind Set. Here we have a very nice French WWII Dog Tag, named to Henri Denis, who was a part of the 101e Régiment d'Artillerie (101st Field Artillery Regiment). Included are printouts of his personal details, as well as the details of his time in service. There are lists of the various units he was in, and dates ranging from the late 1920s into the 1950s.

The front side of the dog tag is marked:

DENIS
Henri
1925
- - - - - - - -
DENIS Henri
1925

While the rear side is marked:

Metz
2 5
- - - - - - - -
Metz
2 5

As with German dog tags, they are designed to break into two halves, in this case with a perforation and stamped groove. This purposeful duplication allows one half-tag to be collected from a personnel's dead body for notification, while the duplicate remains with the corpse if the conditions of battle prevent it from being immediately recovered.

A very nice set from WWII France, ready to research and display!
