This is the earliest iteration of this grenade, with a crude wooden spring fuze and the extremely rare tin cover! The red paint is in good order but does have chipping and oxidation as shown.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eKnown officially as the offensive n°1 (OF1), these grenades were manufactured between 1915 and 1917. The detonator would be screwed inside the upper hemisphere, whose complex forming needed that part to be stamped in a higher quality thin plate, while the lower cap could be made in a more common grade thin plate. They featured a bursting radius of 38 feet.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis example is offered totally inert with a deactivated fuse and all explosives removed per BATF specifications. It does not have much corrosion, unlike most that we see.
